it's Friday, let's talk Lightweight Wheels :)
How many of you guys have swapped stock for some lightweight forged wheels?
I've been wanting a really nice set of forged wheels since I had my Gixxer back in 2001, and then wanted them on my 2005 R6, and now I want them on my Duc...but could never justify the huge price tag.
Those who have upgraded, have you found it made THAT much of a difference to justify the $2000+ you spent?
I can't find too many for Ducati for some reason..these are nice, but they look just like my stock wheels, except forged. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, id like a different style at least.
Marchesini Forged Mags ~2600 for front & rear
I LOVE the design of the BST CF wheels..but the rear alone is $2600
Do you guys know of any other vendors/manufacturers who make the 5 spoke style like BST, just maybe not so expensive

Those sure are nice wheels..
If I had money to burn, I'd buy a set..
But unless you are an up and comming track racer with future sponcers... I don't think the average Joe would benefit from these.

I was thinking the same thing...Ill be hitting the track a lot more, so thats the only reason I was considering it...
but for that kind of money, that's enough for the exhaust system Ive been wanting and more to put away to save for maintenance costs

Marvic makes a nice 5 spoke, if you want to save some money, used 5 spoke Marvics or Marchesinis come up on the used market.

Bst
I am a average rider and light wheels I would have to say benefits anybody. the bike becomes another beast of its own. UPS just delivered these to me last week BIG thanks to Anthony at DESMOWORKS !! The turn-in and better acceleration is because MOI and all attribute to lighter wheels. This is my second set of BST's , I had a set on my RC-51 too. Lighter wheels are always the first major upgrade !!

awesome...thanks for the tip!
quality wise, how do Marvic and Marchesini compare? Im very familiar with the auto tuning market and have a good idea of which companies make shoddy wheels, who makes great ones etc...I just dont know much about the motorcycle community aftermarket.

We take Ducati OEM wheel trade-ins on BST wheelsets and offer 10% off to MS members.
The BST wheels are still expensive--but it will make more difference to your bike than a $3000 exhaust system.
You don't have to be a great rider to tell the difference. Racers report 2 seconds faster per lap. Less experienced track day riders have reported 6 seconds faster per lap.
There is a huge performance difference between forged aluminum or magnesium wheels and carbon wheels...
