2007 1098 error code

Hey folks,

I did a few searches and haven't really found an answer.

I picked up my bike a few weeks ago. 2007 1098 with 3900km's on it. Had a graves slip on exhaust and that's pretty much it.

Rode it home in the rain for 3.5 hours with no issues. Installed the Termi slip on (two bolts and a few springs), went for a ride and washed her up. After I washed her, It would start but then would stall out as soon as I let go of the throttle. Did that a few times and eventually it was ok. Then got an exvl code . That disappeared and all was good. Got stuck in the rain a few more times.. Then I go and start her up for a ride and I have a check engine and throwing a 10.2 code, horizontal coil error code. Bike runs like crap (feels like it's running on half the power) and has issues starting.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Check for moisture/water in the coil connectors. Also check for corrosion in the wiring, check for small pin holes in the wiring. If it happened right after washing, that's what I would check. Not sure if you hosed down the bike or just wiped her down. Heat also breaks down the coil tube boots, which can cause spark leak in the head tubes. Before you go throwing parts at it, i would swap the coils from each head and see if the code changes. If it does then you know the coil is just bad.

Use grease-resistant, heat inside the injection coil corrosion of moisture.

Thanks Jakk! You replied to my thread exactly 12hours after my last post lol.

Pull the horizontal coil out last night, but didn't get to pull the plug yet.

Hey guys,

So I pulled the plugs and they were indeed fouled, so I swapped them out and bought a PCIII and installed that. Started her up and the error code was still there and she's still running a crap and low power.

Then I ordered a new ignition coil and installed it, and still the same issues.

Then I got to thinking... All these issues started after I installed the termi slip ons. So I put the graves slip ons back on and the bike idles a lot better, but is still running like crap.

I'm at a loss and have no clue wtf to do next. I was so excited to get this bike and it's been nothing but headaches

Here's a SITREP on my bikes issues. It ended up being the ECU. She's running like a top now!!

I'm excited to play with her now!

Thanks for the help.

Cheers

Ya, I was getting reallly discouraged.
I'm still trying to figure out what the hell caused it to be pooched.

Any ideas?

All depends on what in the ECU failed. Electronics are usually super reliable, but heat and moisture can kill them.
