Ducati 996 Rev Counter Wiring

I am close to completing the restoration of a wrecked Ducati 996 (insurance write-off). The wiring into the rev counter plug was ripped out and I am interested in the wiring configuration into the three pin male plug recessed into the rev counter base. Can anyone advise which pins are for what function (+, -, signal feed). The Haynes manual wiring diagrams are not helpful in this regard. I am fearful of damaging the CPU, so will not attempt to start the bike until I have addressed this wiring problem. Please can anyone assist.

finding Tach wires!

Easy job....I had a 998 so wire colors may/may not be the same. In any case, don't be scared to start the bike, only three wires!
With the bike running..:
1) one wire is ground
2)use a Multimeter (DMM) and switch to DC volts. With the ignition on, bike is off- any wire that reads anywhere near 12 volts is the "positive"
3) DMM set to AC volts- start bike and probe wires one by one while revving the bike. When your readings raise/lower according to revs/throttle position, THIS IS YOUR SIGNAL.

That's it, good luck
