748 Input, Pricing
My friends, i must ask your input on the pricing of a 99 Yellow 748 with 10,000 miles on it. I know that the bike is in good condition, but as far as other details such as how the motor is, i am in the dark. I realize this is a huge part of the educated guess, and i will try to pry and find out. As FAR as i know, the bike has only been street ridden, and it looks very well taken care of. So basically, lets assume our motor is in acceptable condition, what kinda prices would you guys expect? Be back to check, Thanks

I'd guess ~$5k-ish. That's about what I gave for mine in similar condition to your description.

I would look for a newer bike 2000 and up. Better electrical Ducati seemed to work out most of the glitches. I had a 98 916 that had minor issues my 2000 748 seems to be bullet proof with twice as much miles.

The 99 has the three phase charging system that is not much different than the 2000. I'd say less that 5K without service records. It doesn't matter how it looks really, the service records are what you need. Keep in mind and plan to spend 1k on it out the door if you have no service info. This is for oil, belts, valves etc...

Maybe even more than $1000 if it needs any rockers replaced, as Ducati recently jacked the price of the rockers back up near $200 each from the previous $45 each.......I also agree with $5k-ish.

Thanks very much guys, once again you all have proven to be right on the dot. He is offering it for 5k. My friend is thinking about buying it, i have a 04 749s, so it isnt for me, but ive been telling my friend over and over to look for a ducati because as i put it, he will like a jap bike, but he will love a ducati. I believe asking for service records would be the way to go, and if he cant produce, that 5k is gonna be coming down. Once again, thanks for your time.
