Exhaust upgade questions 2005 999r
Apologies if this has been asked and answered- probably has.
I'd like to get a pipe for a 2005 999r. Paying full freight for a Termi system from Ducati isn't really an option. I don't need the sound and HP that badly (i.e., @ ABOUT $3600.00).
I've seen used full and half systems from time to time, but it seems to me that since the ECU that came with that pipe is now permanently connected to the bike that it was originally installed on, that I'd have to go the Power Commander route. I'm sure that there are those here that have done it, so I'd like to know how it went, how the stock ECU with PCIII compares to the upgraded Termi/ factory ECU.
Also, are there tunes available for the R from Power Commander? Are they the same tunes that work for the base model 999? I may just get a PCIII first by itself, before getting the pipe, so I'm wondering if the "Stock Bike" 999 tune will work on the R, and offer any improvements.
Last question- does anybody use the Leo Vince full superbike system (#7299) on their 999, S or R ('05 or '06), and if so, could you give me some impressions of it?
Thanks in advance!!

The Leo Vince full system is $3700.00 ........weighs 1.5lbs. less than the 57mm Termi...there are several choices out there if you want to do just a slip on....I have A 57mm Termi......Make me an offer, I would love to upgrade to a 62mm Corse full exhaust ;they are about 5k and you have to mod. the rear brake lever(for track use only, kind where I am heading with my 05 XX9R)........

Don't forget grinding part of case away for clearance too, down by the rear brake master! Then you have to purchase the proper Corse Subframe to support the can, and then the stock seat won't fit anymore. The C/F Corse tail section is a one off as well. It's been done.....

Yeah, f**k all of that. I've heard that the 57mm full Termi system gets so hot under the fairing that the paint burns and bubbles. At $1950 per side for the fairing panels, I may not go there without a lot of aluminized asbestos packed in there.
I think that the price listed above for the full Leo Vince is in Canadian dollars. They're a few hundred cheaper here, at full retail- and full retail is for rich, lazy people (too lazy to shop and bargain). Not me.
Anyway, what about stock ECU, PCIII and related issues. And, has anybody actually installed and used a Leo Vince full system? There's not a lot of info on the 'net.

I have the 57mm Termi. Bike came alive with this upgrade. It's all you need. The Loe Vince system I'm told fits better. Still has burning issues if not done right. I have no burning issues. Moto and I figured out a very cool, literally "cool" fix. If you need help, talk to Moto or myself.

I have the LV 57/60 on my 05 999R with a custom PC3 map. I like it much better than the Termi 57 that I had before. It is lighter and makes more power. Sound is deeper and it looks closer to the WSBK systems.

Yes there are heat issues with the termi, it is so close to the fairings(only about 3-4mm in some places)....I have header tape wrapped around both pipes as they exit the cylinders(about 2 1/2 feet)..you have to shim the back of the fairing out at the bottom and can no longer fit the aft lower fairing dzus.................The Leo does fit better ,you can have them sprayed(some kinda plasma coating).....I believe Martin at moto wheels can help if you choose the Leo system from them.......Go big or go home,You will not regret putting the full system on....it makes the bike have the power that it capable of............That is just the power junkie talking........

Talking about the prices ..... MotoCorse make a full Ti system (60mmm front to back) for, wait for it - just under $5k!!!
But don't buy for road use - absolutely useless (gas velocity toooo slow), but should be great for hard track use.

Bought one...
Just picked up a new LV full 57/60 system from a no reserve eBay auction at about $1400 off list. Comes with the LV corsa titanium fastener kit. PCIII on the way too, and some heat shield material for inside the fairing just in case.
Thanks to all who offered advice, especially Moto for the photos and info.
Just ordered a set of your rearsets through my local dealer.

Has anyone fitted the Leo full system to a 03/04 999S, I would love some feedback and pics. I am seriously considering one, plus it is a lot cheaper from Moto than a 57mm Termi. Only thing is the muffler doesn't look as good as the later models, from the pics I have seen, smaller outlets, not as agressive looking. Does anyone know if this is so?
