848/S in 2008; any suggestions for Ducati?
What improvements or options would we all like to see on the 848/S vs. what we are seeing on its big brother currently? We know that Ducati pays attention to this site so maybe we can help them along with some suggestions?
Lower pricing for 848's like on the 07 1098's?
An 848 Dark model?
Color matched mirrors on the S version?
Powder coating the swingarm black on all models?

Higher pricing, same as the 1098.. this gives the rest of the world a cheaper bike. (sorry sore point hahaha)
Tri-Colour, Yellow and Dark choices.
Mirrors you can actually SEE something out of.
Lots of adjustments for seat and pegs, like the 749s.
Reasonable pricing for the exhausts.
BTW... I am so over the 1098..

Chain or Gear driven cams ...rubber belts are a trademark I can live without
OEM footpegs that offer some grip.. Ducati has THE worse OEM pegs I've seen in terms of traction for your feet.
Slipper clutch as standard (at least on S model)
Adjustable headstock (at least on S) footrests are fine in one position.
OEM ECU that is re-mappable (a la Suzuki w/ TEKA)
+1 to black swingarm

Chain or gear-driven cams? On a derivative model where just the displacement is different? What are you smoking?

Marlboro Lights
Okay, I'll take that... it was more directed toward the bikes in general on future Ducatis

+1 on the Dark model, although I think if I'm in the showroom looking I would probably get an S with white number plates
I'd also like to see the 848S get the same treatment as the 1098S, i.e. forged Marchesinis, DDA, Ohlins, etc.

+1 with Bella 749 and for me a Yellow R... The only reason I say this is my little girl wants a new Yellow Duc to go with my Red Duc.

I would think they wouldn't release an R version of the 848 until mid 08 or even 09. If they did and given the lighter weight it would be a smoking bike!

blackened swingarm. Looks like the fairings are going to be the same judging by the multiple bike impressions on the 1098 fairing. If not, cut some aero looking holes in the fairings for both airflow and looks.
Just make the thing look identifiable as an 848, do something subtle to the bike but not make it so different it becomes controversial.
Make it lighter, much lighter. Decrease the broadness of the rear end, somehow the 1098 to me looks like two bikes were glued together. The tail seat area looks too much like a horse saddle ala 999.
Decrease the size of the slip ons. I wouldn't mine a 500 GP touch with two exhaust canisters, one out the side and the other under the tail.
I have my eye on the 848. I hope it acts like the 749R but with more attitude.
