First Ride on a Ducati
I posted here when I bought my new track toy - a 749s. Well after some suspension work and a bunch of other things, we made it out to the track on a cold Saturday morning here in So Cal.
Fun bike.

It was 12 degrees overnight at Willow Springs. Those pics were taken when it was 41 degrees out with 40mph wind gusts.

More important than knowing the temps, would be to know what's your impression about the 749?

Looking good. How'd you like the 749S on the track? I have one, and I think it is one of the most stable feeling bikes on the track I have ever ridden.

Bodywork is Sharkskinz. Same as my Honda. Fits well and is flexible and durable.
The bike will be awesome. The suspension needs some tuning and I need to get used to the body position (longer and lower than my Honda). The bike also needs a little more muscle to change direction - but we'll play with the setup to make it flop better.
I was spoiled by how well-developed the Honda was. The 749 came to me as essentially a street bike with race plastics on her. She needs many more track days of tuning.
All in all, it's wonderful, though. She's sexy, makes cool noises and makes me feel like I own something special. That was the whole point of moving from the Honda.

My bike was very heavy to steer when I first got it. All I have done is to play with the dampening adjustments and now it pretty much falls over. Still have some more playing to do though.

Mine did that too. The stock fork springs were too stiff for my weight and there was very little sag. Once we got that straightened out, the change was incredible.

Thanks. The suspension is far from stock.
