brake question

I just put my new BST front wheel on my 06 999S. Gonna put on the rear tomorrow. I had just mounted the front wheel and Left brake caliper. I had to take a whizz so i went inside. When i came out my nephew was playing with the front brake!!!!!! I checked the brake pads and sure enough, they had been pushed out quite a bit. I was able to push them back in gently with a plastic spatula. It mounted back fine. I mounted the stock rotors on the bst's. The wheel and rotors spin true but the brake pads are much tighter on the rotors now. It also seems that the front brake is loose at first then tightens after a few pumps. I have'nt taken for a test ride yet as i still have to change out the sprockets and mount the rear wheel. Any advice on the brake issue? Does the front brake need bleeding? Will the brake pads loosen with time? Why are they tighter now than before? Thanks in advance. (The front wheel whould spin freely while on the front stand. Now, maybe 1/2 turn before stopping. I can hear the pads rubbing with the rotors)

I've done the same thing before.... and you may need to bleed the brakes.

I've also seen a bit of a difference (initially) with how the whel will turn until the brake pads bed back in. I think it is due to the calipers being able to "wiggle" a little on the bolts... and the never seem to tighten up in exactly the same position.

Just be SURE the calipers are centered on the rotor (I've bought new wheels that needed shimming), bleed the brakes, and ride it some, then check everything again. I'll bet it's fine.

Good luck,
Rich D.
