1098 at Sydney show
The sydney Motorcycle show was on this weekend and the 1098 made an appearance.
To be honest it looks kind of japanese in style and a rather lot of plastic used in panels around the tank. I don't think it has quiet got the exclusive look and quality about it like previous superbikes. The single sided swingarm looks huge in the flesh, I mean ugly huge. But hey this is my impressions from a close look, I don't think I will be upgrading my 999S anytime soon.
On the flipside I think they will sell them by the truck load. The S version is going to be around 31K plus onroads as against 35K for the 999S and the standard 1098 around 25K.
I have also included a couple of pics of some nice Dukes on display from the Duke owners club.
Sorry to be so negative to all you folks that have ordered one, but I just don't like it that much.

I liked thos pictures even better, as I'm not yet a SuperBike person (still way too young). Did you happen to take close-ups of the MHR's and the red-yellow Duc (model?) and the MHe, spotted in your 4th pic? Wouldn't mind seeing those as well, although this is slightly off-topic.
By the way, why did Ducati do away with the gorgeous upper triple clamp from the 999? Much nicer than the "bland" version on the 1098. I realize, this is not a deal-breaker; just wondering.

No I didn't get them, but here are some other Ducati pics.
Yes I agree, the top triple clamp is bland compared to the 999, cost cutting, dare I say.
I'm not trying to knock the 1098, I mean it is still a Ducati Superbike, which is something to worship surely, but it doesn't do it for me and it looks a little cheap and tacky.

You can definately see where ducati has cut costs with the el cheapo black plastic...but they know every owner and his dog is going to be getting CF when they can!

i'm dissapointed that you can't sit on the bike at the show. I hope when they bring the bikes here for the motorcycle show in december (bay area, california) that I will be able to sit on the bike to see how the ergos are for me.
