I can think of few bikes that suck more than an 848 as a daily commuter...
Get a used KTM Duke or Hypermotard or something similar (motard-esque bikes rock in town) and use the rest to get a car. Riding in the rain/cold every day sucks balls.

Matt,
You may not have noticed that he lives in San Diego. "How's the weather, Steve?" "Great, Ralph!" End of weather report.
Mean low temperatures: January, 48 degrees F. Rainfall? Average about 10" a year.
It's tough living there. I know, that's where my relatives live. We shovel snow to get to the airport, and to return to the airport. They wave in their short-sleeve shirts and complain about the cold wave, 45 degrees for, Oh, maybe two or three days. Poor puppies.

Hahah, you're right...
Dude I grew up in Vancouver, BC... It's cold and rainy there like 6 months of the year and subconsciously I think it's like that everywhere sometimes... everywhere other than here that is

My nieces live in PB, I constantly give them shit because the only time they feel temperatures below 32F is when they reach into the freezer for some ice...
