Price of a Ducati 749

Hi guys, I'm new to the site and have been looking for a used non dealer ducati but havent found too many to compare prices.

I found a 2006 Ducati 749 base that needs a new shifter and has very minor rash on the left faring. Easily fixable, faring looks ok.

He's asking $5500 but I got him down to $5200, is this a good price?

Sorry about that, how could I have forgotten that!
It has 4210 miles. He bought it from a dealer 800 miles and 1 year ago this April. I think he probably dropped it early on and lost the will to ride. He told me he lost his job and needs to get rid of it.

The bike looks amazing except for that rought spot on the faring and slight rash on the rear swing arm. (towards the bottom).

I took some pics but didnt take any of the rash.

No service records but clean title.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm not new to bikes but I am to Ducatis.

it is easy to change the miles in the gauges.
so if you dont have servise records try to see any signs of hard use.
try to see the brake rotor.in 4000 miles the rotor should be like new.
or try to see any parts that had been change and shouldn't.

Actually it would be extremely Hard if not impossible to change the odometer on a xx9.and with 4000 miles service records are a non issue too.(only one minor service that's basically an oil change).
Count on a belt change and service if you purchase

Thanks guys! I did buy it, it feels great. It vibrates a little more than I thought but I'm sure thats due to the VTwin. It also feels lower and longer than what I'm used to. I rode it home and noticed that at low speeds it has very sensitive steering. I may need to get used to that as well.

I asked the seller if it was lowered (he was a shorter guy but im not much taller) and he said no, that he had bought it this way. I looked up the specs and noticed that it was considerably shorter than my previous R6. (33.5 in r6 vs 30.75 in?)

I left the bike at a friends house as I dont currently have space in my garage so I cant go measure the height just yet. I was surprised that I could flat foot it me being 5' 6.5"

He included the receipt from the dealer he bought it from where the miles were stated correct and the title showed clean. I'm excited but just need to find out if it is lowered so I can bring it back up to normal spec. Any way to tell?

The 749/999 series gives you the feeling of sitting IN them rather than on top of them. You could just bring the bike to a duck dealer and have them do a quick checkout and setup the suspension for you.

Shouldn't just taking the VIN number to any dealer (or the nearest one) possibly give a service history?
