He wants to customize his Duc, let him do his thing. I've always wondered about putting 998 bodywork on a 1x98 series. It would be cheaper than swapping the 1x98 engine into an older frame, interesting to say the least.

Good luck

Copy of what I wrote Welcome and Introduction : )

Hello everyone - My name is Alex I'm from Israel
This forum is amazing I got to him buy accident...
I learned a lot from you guys about my dream 999/749-especially from "yellowducking" whos projects are soooo...Inspiring !!!
im 32 year old didnt ride for 10 years and i decided its now or never : )
so...I wanted to check on the option of replacing the fringe of a 749 on a 848
Before I buy 749 and going bankrupt on treatments heheh : )
im not a pro nor am I a mechanic so the "Rational" thing to do is to go with the newer year less problems and safer ride 848 ??? but then agin this all astarted Because of a dream I have been carrying with me from when i was 20 : ))
so any opinions ? did some one did thet befor ??
thank y'all
nice to be here
alex
btw-you'll have to forgive my spelling mistakes(add,dda,ada..ducati A

First - you can probably pickup a great condition 748 or 749 for less that what you are going to end up spending trying to put 748 or 749 fairings on an 848.

However, if I was able to acquire a wrecked 848 this might be an interesting project.

The fairings are probably the right size, but they are not going to just bolt on to the 848. You are going to have to have a lot of custom fabrication done. Plus you'll probably have some fun getting the 848's dashboard under the 748's windscreen.

Overall an interesting idea, but not a good way to save money.
If you want an 848 - go buy one and ride the wheels off it. IF you want a 748 go find one, buy it and ride the wheels off it.

thanks for the reply's

thanks tweek
wall where i come from we have here 3 749 one of them is an s' and maybe 2 999 no s' at all-848 we have alot new dealer sinc 08' did a good job marketing
i talk to this guy a few days ago he have an 848 for sale and he used to own the 749s he said do not go near the 749s !!! for example fuel pump:
848=150$
749=500$
Of course he wanted to sell me his 848 but still ther is a point to what he's saying...?
i think the 848 is a more smood ride less problems but then agin-me have no Experience so ???
btw-all of the 749 we have here are 5-6 owners (wili and stopi all day long) 848 1-2 owners...
749 will cost here 10k$ 848 will be almost 20k$
and going to parts and Accessories adventure...............
if i buy the 749 the only mod i would like to do is the singel arm and it Would cost as much as geting the 848
So I guess my bottom line is 749 or 848 that looks like 749 at least the frontmask !!
yes yes im crazy but i look at 749/999 as a masterpice of design-The most beautiful bike ever created by man ! the 749 and the mv but what to do mv never came to israel...

I seen one 748 with 848 fairing for sale while ago on SF craigslist, look very neat from pics. So could be possible but may have to fabricate some bracket. I love my 748 body styles though. Classic look.
