Quick notes on CF wheels
Just a few initial impressions on riding with my new BST wheels on an old 916 SP...
I just did my valves and TPS so bike is running great. Now new BSTs running on Diablo Supercorsas with a 6" rear wheel.
--> The front end suddenly feels so light that it got a tiny tire wobble when I rode with no hands on a flat, smooth road at a slow speed (around 50kph).
--> Front end is no so light I had to add one click to my Ohlins damper to give it more stability on acceleration.
--> Bike pulls harder in every gear. You know how it feels when you have an almost empty tank of gas? That's how my bike feels now, all the time.
--> 6TH gear lagging/lugging is greatly reduced. You know how it feels when you get into 6th before you really should, now it runs lower RPM and still feels fine.
--> The bike generally feels lighter and turns better, hugs corners confidently.
--> Interestingly, it feels somehow more stable in a straight line too. Not sure why on this one.
I suspect all of these points will be greatly improved on the track... this is just what I can feel from a 40km Sunday ride.

I recently spend some time and noticed a massive difference when getting off the throttle. the bike practically just stops! normally the inertia of the wheels carries you forward pretty strongly. also noticed it a lot taking off and manouvering at slow speed is much easier. apart from that the tip in is crazy it really does make it feel like a smaller bike handling wise. they are a good thing no doubt. you do definitely lose some stability though but it's worth it.

OHHHH YEEEAAH. Every time I get on it, it's just like sex on wheels. New rubber on the road, perfectly adjusted new chain, new oil, new valves... the thing just wants to go!!!
Lastly, I forgot to mention, it's just SICK to see.... Even older construction guys where looking at my wheels at the traffic light from their work truck.
Yeah, my bike is one of the most tatty around, but I gotta say, my wheels are the best.
Nothing much on cosmetics yet: I like to start on engine and set-up, and then do cosmetics last.
A few bad pix for "M".

Your bike and your wheels are best because you are the best. The best of the best. Enough said.

Well the thing is Sputniks, I feel like a star riding my 916.
I think sometimes we get too proud of our bikes and keep them too clean.
But actually, I think you are the best.
I'm only a star. You're STELLAR.
