Remove it from the bike. The components are fastened together with screws you access from behind the rubber caps. Give it a good cleaning with alcohol, small rag and I used chopstick while you are in there.
Be careful, replacements can be pricey.

I just did this on my 998 to clean them. Remove the front fairing. Drop the horn and let it hang. Unscrew the headlight retainers under the boots and carefully let the headlights dangle. Remove the front screw holding the headlight unit in. Remove the headlight unit and pull out the parking lights from the unit. I agree with cleaning with alcohol and using care. If the set up is the same as the 998, it is not hard, just take your time. Good luck!

There is one harness connection for the whole headlight (multi-pin flat type connector) to the front sub harness. I just unplug it there and leave the bulbs in to remove the assembly. That way you can remove the bulbs on a workbench and do not have to leave them dangling on the bike.

To answer your question it is possible to take the entire unit apart, follow the instruction that the others have posted to remove it form the bike. Then there are some small crews that hold the backing of the low beam projector in place, take it off, then you will see six screws two in the middle hold the assembly to the unit and the outer 4 are to take the projector apart.
Now there is no way into the high beam side without actually taking the unit apart. But it can be done. bake the unit in the oven around 240-250 for approximately 6-8 minutes depending on he oven times and temps may vary a little. The temperature will soften the rubber butyl that holds the glass to the unit. Pull unit out of the oven with mits. I used some old racing gloves, worked well. Now quickly take 2 butter knives and start to pry up from one of the ends. Once it appears that you are not making anymore progress stick it back in the oven and try again.
To reseal if there is enough butyl left in the groove you can simply bake it again and place glass back on. If not choose your favorite type of silicone in a tube or visit your Nissan, infinity dealer they carry rubber butyl strips..
I have done this to replace the glass with acrylic lenses. Have fun.

I feel like I've seen this thread before, but I remember someone bringing up the issue of HID's burning out the wiring harness on the bike. I suggest triple checking to make sure the system you are installing is fully compatible down to the 'Ohm's with your bike.
