How to switch from map 1 to map 2 on a microtec ecu?
Ok, I installed the microtec ecu in my Desmosedici, set the TPS, the bike works reasonably well (but is somewhat rich). That is with a "base" map, the guys at EVR who sold it to me also installed a Ducshop map in the ecu as map #2 which should work with my corse exhaust system. But how to switch from one map to the other? There is a switch which needs to be fitted into the wiring harness? Does an existing handlebar switch change the map? I have tried all and found no solution to this, nor can I figure out how to switch the map using the laptop. Any ideas?

Hi John,
I think is like my ducati microtec, with the bike running you press the starter button.
Watch the dash and you will see the rev rise and the limiter light on as you press the button.

I just installed mine. How can I tell if I'm on map 1 or map 2?

I have the Microtec on my 848. You change the map by holding the starter switch in for 3-5 seconds and as another person said you wait till the rev-limiter light flashes a couple times and then extinguishes.
You won't know what map your on unless you plug your laptop into the ECU while it's running--you can swich maps using the laptop as well, by clicking on the "map" button. For this reason I try not to use the "kill switch" because if you forget that it's engaged you'll inadvertently switch the map.
As far as the maps go, I think each bike needs a custom map. I have tried the two maps that came with my ECU and they don't fit the bike very well--both run too rich in my opinion. Although I haven't had it on a dyno, on the track I notice big dips in the powerband.
If you can find someone to do a custom map let me know because I'm looking for one as well.

You press the starter button:
If the bike is in MAP 1 – Dash RPM will move to 8000rpm and activate the over rev warning light for 3 seconds, then back to normal RPM use.
If the bike is in MAP 2 – Dash RPM will move to 4000rpm and activate the over rev warning light for 2 seconds, then back to normal RPM use.
It isn't the best way, but is what it can be done with the 1098 dash.

On my 999r, with the oem ECU I just press the starter button once to start the engine as the computer does the rest.
With the Microtec ECU, it works more like a traditional starter button now where I have to hold the start button until the engine starts. (which I like better anyway)

4k indicates map 1.
8k indicates map 2.
Not sure on desmo.
