CF Belt Covers...

Does something like this exist for an '02 748R? Can't stand the look of the gray plastic ones.

Cool... can you recommend a vendor? I looked at all the sites I thought would have them and could not find them anywhere, Bestem, MotoWheels, ProItalia, etc.

We can order them from CM Composit in Italy ( supplier to Ducati).
They are very slow movers so we no longer stock them.

Contact Matt@motowheels.com or 916.369.2509.

True enough, which is probably why they are a slow seller. Although you can see them if you get down on your knees and look hard enough.

But the stock covers are quite heavy for what they are.

I bought mine (hardly) used from someone who had put his bike back to stock to sell and wasn't asking much for them, don't think I'd be paying new CM Composit prices for them though...

Well, yeah, that is true. And if I lived in sunny southern CA then I would be riding all the time and I probably would not care as they would constantly be covered. However, I live in CT, where we actually have a season we call Winter, well... usually we have a season called winter, this year it has been pretty mild.

Anyway, during that season, some from the northeast choose to "winter" themselves down in sunny FL. Those of us who choose to stay have to amuse ourselves in one way or another. I myself, bring my beautiful 748R into my media room and display it prominently on the rear stand with the fairings removed so that all those who appreciate beautiful engineering can gaze upon this work of mechanical art.

So, while the weight savings are a component of why I want the CF covers, the main driver is the look. I fucking LOVE carbon fiber... if it were socially acceptable I would drape myself in it...

Haha, I remember that from Seinfeld when George would do that in velvet... If it were socially acceptable of course

Back on topic. Until very recently Shift-Tech had them on their website. They were somewhere around $300. You can contact Guido and find out what's up. If he has any left don't forget he gives us a forum discount and free shipping!

It's great that MotoWheels can possibly get them made for you and it makes me think of what else they don't have on their site. Hey, I have to use my VIP membership more anyway!

I was planning to buy them from Shift-Tech when they disappeared. Lucky for me, someone in New Hampshire had a set of ATR (Italy) in great shape and I clicked the "Buy it Now" button soon after he listed them. They arrived today and are very nice. I had no idea you were looking for them too. To quote Rex from Toy Story:

I also share your love of CF. I'm doing up my engine while I'm doing the 853 kit. In addition to the belt covers, I need better plug wires for the 853 so they may as well be red. My Samco hoses already are red.
I'll be getting either a silver SpeedyMoto or SlingShotRacing water pump cover, a red inspection cover and red oil plugs.

Yes you can't see all that stuff with the fairings on but I'll be smiling ear to ear every time I have the fairings off for basic maintenance

I am not in CA, i am in NC. I have my bike in my living room when it cold but i keep the fairing on to look nice For us who still have an older bike it kinda hard to find something like this. I saw once on ebay buy it now for $165 and i guess the forum member here got it.

I could have sworn I saw palm trees in some of the pics of your bike... just assumed it was southern CA. Sorry.
