ECU question
I just purchased my first Ducati (08 1098s) it came fully modded (full termi's ECU, carbon, ect ect ect
Anyway in the two giant boxes of parts that also came with it i have what appears to be two extra ECU's is there any way to tell what they are worth? from doing a little digging on ebay ones that are setup to be for aftermarket exhaust systems are quite expensive...
Anyway just kind of wondering what i have here. I can take some pictures of them as well if that would help out.
Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but i'm really new to Ducati's and i'm excited to start learning (this is my 6th motorcycle but the previous have all been Jap bikes and a Triumph.)
Cheers,
Nick

It is possible you may have the standard ECU that was removed when the performance one was fitted, and possibly the one for slip-ons. Easiest way is to post on here what the part numbers are and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

what he said ^. you can also do a google search on the part numbers and it'll come up with what they are for. ECUs for aftermarket exhausts are $600 brand new but it seems like nobody pays even close to that for a used one. I'm still trying to sell a 1098S ecu for slip-ons, which I've had for over a month. The market is very limited for that stuff (mainly because it's an S model), and even more limited for stock ECUs. Most people don't go from aftermarket back to stock.

Wow quick responses here!
Anyway i started googling after i posted this (i know... should have just done this in the first place) and it would appear that i have the Stock 1098s ECU and a Aftermarket 1098s Slip On ECU
Here are the numbers on the two ECU's
1st one -
1098DUCATI055 (CND)
22A7LN39 (CND)
60HCC0811 008 08
2nd one (has slip on written on it with a marker) -
96518607B
S37PNA02
60HCJ9UBH 332 07
Am i correct in my Google findings?
Thanks again!
Nick

Awesome thanks.
Price wise what are reasonable asking prices for these? i was thinking somewhere around 400-500 for the slip on ECU and something like 120 for the stock ECU.
those fair prices?
Also would it be better to pair the OEM ecu with the original exhaust as i have all that too... cans, mounting hardware, headers, silencers and the original airfilter. I realize there isn't much of a market for OEM exhaust parts but i figure if i can get rid of them it would be easier to just sell it all to the same person.
Cheers,
Nick

Generally, the going rate for a used OEM ECU is about $50. Reason is, unless it's "virgin", it will need to be re-flashed or "re-virginized" to work with another bike because of the immobilizer feature.

good luck with that! I priced my slip-on ECU at $300 and still hasn't sold yet...I'm in the works of negotiating with someone for about $250. Stock ECUs ...no idea. I would put an ad for it with the stock exhaust like you said and tell people to make you an offer on it, then take whatever the best offer is. Some people may want stock exhausts in case they wrecked and just want a cheap quick fix, but I haven't seen anyone that wanted to buy a stock ECU.

Makes sense forgot about the immobilizer :S.
Anyway thanks for all the information guys it was a big help. I'll fire them up on eBay or post them on here once my post count is up and I've been a member longer.
Cheers,
Nick

Not true on the 848,1098,1198 bikes. The immobilizer does not lock to the ecu. If you have an 1198 you can use your ecu in any other 1198. And so on and so on and so on. You can also have the ecu's reflashed to whatever bike you want. You can sell your 1098s ecu to someone that has an 848 that they want to send an ecu out to have reflashed and it can be done for about $250-$300. You can also have custom startup messages put on them. The bottom has dropped out of the dpecu's because their are people out there re-flashing stock ecu's with a tune that is better then the dp slipon or full system ecu's. The stock ecu is most likely worth $50-$100 and the slipon ecu somewhere under the reflash price of $250-$300.
