Exclamation Help with 848 electrical failure

I bought two weeks a go a 848, 2008 with only 300 miles. it was in my friend's garage for over a year and a half. the motorcycle was started at least once a week. the first thing i do was change the oil and the battery. but since i picked up the 848, before change the battery and the oil, the motorcycle has a failure with the electrical system. it stars ok an running well but 10 minutes later start having troubles. between 3.000 and 6.000 rpm the motor shuts down and also the lights, it's like the electricity was interrupted for a while. we checked the system with the ducati dealer computer and no error was detected. I'm inspected every connections and seem ok, ecu, fuses, light relay, voltage regulator, battery cables, starting switch and everything looks fine. please help me.... the failure can see in you tube....
. or under name, 848 failure.

848 running problem

Hi, Sad to hear your bike has a problem, but may not be as bad as you think. I noticed in the video that the main beam light was flickering on and off . Assuming all the battery connectors are good and all the earth wires in place and good, This could easily be a Regulator/Rectifier problem and overcharging. Put a volt meter on the battery when the bike is running and watch the volts. It should only be around 14 to 14.5 volts, I expect yours might show 16volts or so when revved up. The clocks are voltage sensitive and will shut down if the voltage is too high. If you do not have a voltmeter , just unplug the alternator wire ( 3 Yellow wires on the left of the engine) and try it again, if its the regulator that is faulty the bike should run ok (just to test it) Then a replacement REG/REC is needed.
Let us know how you get on.
Good Luck.

Boy if this isn't an opportunity for Ducati to show some good faith relations I don't know what is. I know they looked at it, but obviously they need to do a more comprehensive job and fix the thing.
With only 300 miles it should be a warranty job.....

I understand that...I had remembered this 848 recall when I was perusing thru the web a few days ago and added it after I orginally responded. Given the totality of the circumstances he should be able to properly get it fixed.
