1098R raceengine blueprint - advise needed

Hi folks,

I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine - with ported heads, RS pistons and cams - this will be a race only engine.

I would appreciate you comments on the following specs regarding clearences:
1) gearbox shafts end float - 0,15 mm (Ducati spec is 0,05 - 0,20mm)
2) gear selector drum end float - 0,30 mm (Ducati spec is 0,10 - 0,40 mm)
3) Crankpin to conrod bearing - 0,040 mm ( Ducati spec is missing in the 1098R manual - 999R manual says 0,035 - 0,065mm)
4) cam timing for 1098RS cams - do any of you have info regarding theese cams ?
5) squish 1,2 mm

Thanks

Engine blueprint completed.

Along with the blueprint - I gave the engine the full monty...

Graph 1 is my 1098S versus my 1098R before the full monty.
The 1098S is with open cans, large airrunners and DP ecu. dialed cams at 108/108
The 1098R is with 70 mm Termignoni, Large airrunners, Nemesis ecu and cams at 114/114

Graph 2 is my 1098R after the full monty, still with the 70 mm Termignoni, large airrunners, Microtec ECU.
The Full monty in this setting is flowed heads, RS HC pistons, RS cams dialed at 109/110, 70 mm stacks.

Fuel is Shell Vpower

No need to attach the numbers - they are irrelevant, the graphs is for comparison only

Holy crap! that's ridiculous! I find it really interesting that the 1098R lacks in power and torque compared to the S under 6000 rpm...but then all hell breaks lose after that .

You should tell this guy here what you did. He's desperately trying to get to "210 Hp". Obviously whatever you did worked.

1098 R how to increase HP

Interesting.....that's WSBK HP. What is the lifespan on such an engine. I understand that it is a "race only" not a road going engine, so how many race hours will that engine go before needing a complete rebuild. It must be placing extraordinary stress on the internals not to mention the belts. Even an AMA Sportbike class 848 requires belts to be changed every race. Just curious on what type of maintenance schedule that engine must adhere to...thank you for the post!

Hi Fab,

I modified the pistons to 13.5 @ 1,2 mm of squish.

I have set the cam timing at 109/110 - and will try thin on the tracks during easter at Pannonia Ring and the weekend after at SlovakiaRing.

If you have some info regarding cam timing please pm me.

Cheers

That's top HP BowHunter! Congratulations!
May I ask you guys from your experience, since I bought to race a 1098R (superstock, stock engine with full system). What to look after on the bike? Bought almost new (3000Km), already raced first round with great result but your experience from your bikes is gold.

thanks in advance!
