Slipon Options for 1098?
I'm beginning the search for a set of cans for my 1098. Iv'e done a bit of a search here and generally on the web and there's plenty of pictures of various cans on different models however I'm wondering if fellow 1098/1198 riders would help me in my quest by posting pictures of their setup.
I'd also appreciate any comments on the pros/cons of the various brands (fitment, sound, weight etc.).
Thanks for your help.

Well, that depends. People mock the cost of Termis, but they forget that it includes an ECU with a map that also doesn't suck.
So getting any other slip on means that you need to get a PC-V, flash your ECU and a trip to the dyno. All of those things cost money. I've done the cost comparison, and it's actually slightly cheaper to get the Termis.

i'm sorry but that's wrong. currently the cost of Termi slip-ons with ECU is around $2000 (I'm using values for brand new, MSRP). Others, such as Akrapovic for example is $1100. Cost of a DP ECU, the same as the one that Termis come with, is $600. Cost of the air filter that's usually included with Termis is about $70-$90...which is cheaper? I'll let you do the math. Also, if you're like me and don't want to spend $600 on an ECU, you can flash the stock and remap it with whatever map you want (even the same one on the DP ECU) for around $300-$350.
Also, in my opinion the Termis are overrated in quality as well. I bought a set of Termi slip-ons and replaced them with Akrapovic. Much better quality build.

I installed the "new" style carbon Termis on my 1198 and I don't see anything wrong with the quality. They sound wonderful and are lightweight, etc., etc. All the "quality" comments I've read about the termis say they suck in quality. Whatever. I bought mine from my local Ducati dealer within two weeks of buying the bike. I've sold the DP airfilter and the ECU, so I'm happy. Everyone has some kind of rationalizaion to support their choice (in everything!), so buy WTF you want and be happy.

So maybe you can sell your Termi slip-on take-offs to the OP?

trust me we've talked about it, and i definitely would've, but i sold them within a day after i got them. oh and don't get me wrong, the quality of Termis is not bad...it's just not as good as Akrapovic. And by saying that, I don't mean that they don't sound good, or they're not light enough, I'm just strictly talking about the quality of the material itself and the way it was manufactured. I work in a composites manufacturing plant, and most of it is made with carbon fiber, so I have an eye for spotting differences in products like these. As soon as I got my hands on the Termis i thought "wow, they look like something I could make", whereas the Akrapovic really impressed me. Not saying they're the best, but they're definitely the best I've seen so far. But I definitely agree with you that to each is own, so everyone should get whatever they like and want. That's ultimately the reason I bought my bike...because I really liked it, not because it's the best.

What about the PC-V and dyno tuning? Last I checked those aren't free.

you don't need a PC...in fact, if you flash your ECU and remap it, it's not recommended to use a PC. it's somewhat redundant, you can use either one or the other but it's pointless to have both. as far as tuning goes, what tuning?? once you get the ECU, you plug it in, reset the TPS (which takes 10 minutes at a dealer) and you're done.

Well for others maybe. There is no ECU flash available for my bike unless I want to lose DTC and the Quickshifter.
How are you supposed to know what map to use, do the people that flash them have every combo available?
