2010 new style Termis on 1198 S with "old" style full Termi system
Hi,
I'm new to the board, so I did my best to search for this before posting. I was not able to finde a precise reply, though, hence this post.
I'm looking at a used 2009 1198 S with 2700kms on it to replace my seasoned 996. The bike has the old style full termi system, aka:
DUCATI Termignoni Carbon Komplettanlage Racing 1098 / S | eBay
So, my first question is: Can I slip on the 2010 new-style Termignoni cans on the current 2009 full system? Obviously I'd like to keep the current ECU and manifold. These are the slip-ons I'm looking at:
DUCATI Termignoni Carbon Racing Auspuff 1198 S NEU | eBay
The dealer tells me the new style slip-ons will work with the "old" style full system, air filter and ECU.
Finally, owners of the new style system, are they worth the upgrade? I like the look better but am unsure about differences in sound, performance etc.

The new style are a direct replacement for the old cans.
Aside from the look, maybe a bit of volume(minimal), there is no difference

Just want to confirm you originally had just the Slip-ons? if so your exhaust was only 50MM and if you buy the header system it is 70MM and you may have fitment issues to your current slip-ons...I may be wrong. Easiest way to be sure is to measure the opening on the back side of your slip-ons and see. If yours are 50MM and the headers you are getting are 70MM your going to have a problem...Hope this helps...

The bike originally has the full system, but with the old style cans (2009). The current cans are Ø70mm - just like the new-style ones.

Now all that's left is to agree on the right price with seller. He's proving stubborn, so I'm giving him the silent treatment for a week or two :-)

You'll need longer springs to hold the cans to the pipes as the spring hooks are on opposite sides of the '10 cans compared to the older units. I know from experience. I stretched the piss out of the original springs but they'll probably break soon so I have 100mm springs in the toolbox ready for service.

Excellent advice, thank you very much. IF I do end up buying this bike I'm actually warming up to running the first season with the standard cans. I've talked to some other owners and they're telling me the upgrade is purely cosmetic. It's still ~€1000 for the new cans, which I think is a bit steep.
By the way, the bike is right here if you're interested in seeing it:
