new ducati 848 evo 2012

hi guys
two week ago i bought a new ducati 848 evo white pearl 2012.
I'am very happy but i have one question!!
the max fuel i can put in my ducati its' only 3 gallon???
it's wired because i read that the max capacity is 4,4 gallons
i was riding and finish all the fuel and the bike cut off.i check the tank and was empty !!
after i fill 2 gallon and i drive to the next gas station and the max i could fill was 1 gallon no more!!!

hmm...that's really sketchy. i always wondered that myself as well, because my 1198 is supposed to have 4.1 gallon capacity out of which the reserve is 1 gallon. if i fill it when my gas light comes on, i can only put about 2.6 gallons in, so either the reserve is 1.5 gallons, or the tank is less than 4.1 like the manual says.

Are you filling the bike when its tilted on the side stand? I always pull up and sit on the bike so its upright to really fill the tank... just a thought...

2008 848 and the most I ever ridden on a full tank was about 165/170 miles (I didn't try to go any further). If I remember correctly, I filled up around 3.8 gal (this was all highway riding). My light usually comes on around 135mi and I avg around 44/45mpg (highway, spirited riding, high 80 low 90s mph).

... Perhaps the advertised capacity is AFTER the tank swells from all of the ethanol in the fuel? Sorry was smartassed and had to say it. I think my 749S is rated 4.1 and I've put just a hair over 3 in it as well. Maybe 3.2-3.3. Normally ride 150 miles or so between fill ups.. Mine is steel so I'm not concerned about the swelling
