998 Rescued from Death

Picked up an 02' 998 with 3800mls that was neglected for 4 years in a parking garage uncovered in Miami Beach right at the ocean.
Poor thing, it was a mess and everything had corrosion on it, leaking fork seals, leaking rear shock, dirty, nasty just a total mess.

Best thing was, " it was his baby" what a nut case.....

We gave it a full refresh without breaking the bank and stripped here done to the engine and replaced everything nice and fresh, some carbon here and there, some new paint, powder coating here and there, some titanium hardware, ceramic coated the exhaust and she looks as good as new and may be even a little better.

It was so nasty I did not even bother with pictures, rolled her in the shop at 6pm and started the tear down 10min later and had it all apart by 3am

Here one of the only pictures I took before, you can see how the exhaust did look and the rest was not much better.

Nice job Guido! Salt air can make a quick mess of most anything. What did you use to paint the engine? I'm assuming you sprayed it w/o splitting the cases....

The engine was well protected with lot's of grime, grease and dirt , the fairing did it's job as well.
The left side cover just had to be redone, buddy of mine did it, he has some funky paint that he uses when he restores classic bikes.
Just the back of the motor had a few spots that would not clean up so touched them up with normal Engine paint out of the can, was not much otherwise I would have split the cases but we were trying not to break the bank to much on this one.
