Best source for 916 (94mm) head gaskets?
Haven't had much luck locating these gaskets without heading into the dealership. Is that the best way to go? Going the 853 direction and all I need are these gaskets before proceeding! WooHoo!! Even looked in the vendor section, but gave up after an hour of looking at accessories and no gaskets...
Any and all tips/hints/links appreciated.

I think the part number is 78610451A which has been superseded by 78610452A. A search of ebay reveals there is one I will PM you the link for the other one you could head to Pro Italia or commoto. Is this what you are lookig for??

That part number seems to be for the 916SPS so it's for a 98mm jug. Ah, the days when 916 referred to 916cc...
I'll check out Pro Italia and commoto. Many Thanks!

Cometic Gasket Inc.
I have 2 at 1mm, installed but never run if you want them... if I didn't toss them.

If the ST4 part number (786.1.054.2A) is what you're looking for Ducati Omaha has them for $66 with free shipping. I bought one and a base gasket earlier this year to fix a vert head leak.
Have a good one.

OK, now I'm confused... I've gotten myself completely lost in the 94mm - 98mm world of Ducati...
Original 916 head gasket 78610052A (from an old post, so I could be wrong)
supercedes to 7861055A $113 so let's not go there...
If I look up 78610541A ('97-98 916 SPS that I thought was 98mm bore but it looks like they went to 98mm after '98), I get superceded to 78610542A and price is $76. Saw a picture of one of these on eBay and it looked larger than 94mm as they actually had a ruler pictured with it)
If I look up 78610542A (the number just provided as superceding 541A and also provided as the number for the ST4), I get superceded to 78610543A and price is $66. The ST4 916 (94mm) and the ST4s is 996 (98mm), right? But the description of the superceded ST4 number lists "996" in it...
Description on 78610542A (when shown as superceding 78610541A) ... HEAD GASKET 996 B-ST4/00
Description on 78610543A (when shown as superceding 78610542A)... HEAD GASKET ST402
Well, at least now I know why I asked!!! If I got all cross-eyed and transposed one of these numbers, please chime in and let me know...
I think Namor has the right idea by staying away from Ducati part numbers!!!
Where the heck is that "I'm drunk and posting" thread... I'm heading there later!!!

I bought a gasket kit from a Ducati dealer a couple of years ago, the description was for 996 but it was 94mm for 916. The dealer knew that it was listed wrong but said that it was one of those things that Ducati do...
There are two versions of head gasket for 916; the older fibre gasket and the later metallic gasket, both work but they are different thicknesses and you need to change the base (shim) gasket to compensate.
My bike originally had the older gasket but it developed a leak on the rear cylinder, I swapped them for the the newer gaskets which are better and less prone to leaking but cost more and are thinner so require a thicker base shim - IIRC the new style shim is 1mm whereas the older model is 0.4mm although you may need to vary this to get the correct squish?
Be aware of the redundant oil feed hole in the crankcase for the rear cylinder, although not used it has oil under pressure and will leak if you increase the thickness of the base shim without using a thicker 'O' ring (don't ask how I know this!) but you can permanently plug it - I tapped a thread into it and loctited a grub screw in the hole.

Many thanks for the insight DukeDesmo! And for helping me correct a self-inflicted leak before it happened!
