999 street to race the easy way?
This weekend I've picked up a set of "race" fairing to use at the track and around canyons while keeping the nice bodywork for cruising around showing it off...
The nose fairing came with the race frame to remove the whole headlight assembly.
Would removing the nose assembly be just as easy as removing the 2 bolts that secure the headlight assembly to the frame of the bike? Or do I have to remove piece by piece?

from what i remember, you have to open up the headlight housing to get to the plug. it's been a while since i've taken an 749/999 apart, though.

Remove side fairings, then unscrew two bolts on side, then 3 underneath the headlight (above wheel)... That's it from what I can remember.

Thanks guys!!! I tinkered with it last night. Removing the front end as a complete assembly is very easy, the problem is really the harness. It comes from the bike frame to the front nose (connected through a larger rectangular plug located about halfway under the tank alongside of the frame) and then goes back through some separate plugs (including one for the horn that runs all the way down to the horizontal cylinder.
The plan tonight is to see if I can disconnect the plugs in the headlight unit without taking it apart.
I'm basically looking for a way to completely swap bodywork in a matter on less than 30 minutes with the the minimum amount of work...
I'll play some more and see what I find. In the meanwhile if somebody has a front wiring harness with a rectangular plug laying around I'll pick it up...

I usually buy a race faring stay so I can undo the entire front and remove it with the mirrors. Makes it much quicker. GOod luck
