Anyone installed HID's in a 2009 1198s ??

Hi I have a hid kit that I want to install in my 1198 but with the way the hid wiring looks I will have to make a hole in my cover?? Didn't really want to do that, wanted to keep my headlights sealed. Is this possible? I don't mind taking the whole headlight assembly apart, just didn't want to do it for nothing if that's not the way. Any pics, video or links would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks, Marty.

Couldn't you just leave the back covers off? If you don't ride it in the rain or drench it with water I'd think you'd be fine

I installed the ddm tuning 35w kit in my 1198, super happy with the increase in light, but it did require cutting holes in the back of the covers for the wires to pass through. Doesn't look bad when it's all done. Don't think there is an HID kit that can be installed without cutting those covers. If you drive at night, it's a must in my opinion. stock lights are not enough. 35W HIDs are great.

Just seal the grommets with clear or black silicone. It's as water tight as factory at that point.

I'd read about some 90 degree connectors awihile back, but haven't seen them.

I used the Gotham Kit on my 1198, and DDM on my ST3.

The Gotham kit fires faster, for what it's worth.

Thank you all for the info, I knew i was going to have to cut but just wanted to make sure. My luck I would have cut then someone would have said you didn't have to do that lol. I will use silicone to seal the holes i drill. Thanks again for the info.

I did the install of the HID's and it was real easy, cut a small grove in the cap then siliconed it. My high beam slim ballast was bad so after I receive my new one I will post picks of what I did. Thanks again for the info it really helped.
