Unhappy Now that Section 8 Superbike is no more....

I will really miss Section 8 Superbike. I can't say enough good things about the people that worked there. They were always helpful and and did not mind answering Nooobish questions about my bike. They made me feel better about buying a Ducati (unlike the dealer that I bought my 749 from). I liked the great prices too on OEM and DP SBK parts. All of the dealers I have looked at thus far charge full MSRP for OEM and DP parts. I hope that one of them steps up and fills the void left by the tragic demise of a great little dealership. That said, can anyone recommend a good Ducati mail order substitute for Section 8 with equally good pricing?

Thanks,

Chris

Yeah. I'll also miss Jason and the crew at Section8Superbike.

My parts guys; DUCATI SEATTLE!

Great guys, know their stuff, get the parts quickly, and no hassles.

two big Bucky thumbs up.

That's why I'm flying up to Seattle, from the SF Bay area, to buy my Hypermotard from them.

Are they out or not? Their website is working and their shopping cart seems to be working fine and taking orders?

If they are, WOW did I dodge the bullet by not ordering the full Termi exhaust system for my new 999 from them a couple of weeks ago.

The price was VERY good (less than $2200) and I almost pulled the trigger but in the last moment decided to get my Multistrada upgraded first so I got a good deal from my local dealer.

They have some great tech notes on their site, I saved the ones relavent to a 749 on my local machine. If anybody knows them personally, it would be good to get mail from them allowing us to post that stuff publicly. Also, they used to have good suspension info too, but they took that down - wonder if they would let someone have that info to post too if they are really oob.

Yeah I am going to mention that to them if they ever return my PM's on Speedzilla. They really need to take their shopping cart down. I wonder how many people have ordered not knowing. It is official they have closed and Jason Etter started another business. I will try pricing out some parts on Ducati Seattle and see how they compare. The owner of Duc Seattle had a really nice post on the Section 8 thread which speaks well of them. This is from the Section 8 co-owner below.

Bill Speaks

Just a quick post to let everyone know that yes, Section 8 is out of business, and yes, we are doing everything possible to make things right with our customers. I've got abot 20 boxes that I am taking to the post office RIGHT NOW so that they can get on the road. We have two more orders from Ducati (one we ordered 8/15/06!) that we've paid for, and supposed to be shipping to us. There is a lot of crap flying and yes, a full explanation is in order.

Some of what has been said about what actually happened is very accurate, some is way off base. Some folks (one in particular) are engaging in what seems to be very biased speculation that is not even close to the truth. There is a lot to the story, most of which I cannot comment about. What I can say is that it was all **so unecessary.** This didn't have to happen.

Bear in mind here that this is not something that we've done before...this very unpleasant situation is something that I've not had to handle before, and there's no manual as to how to do it. It totally sucks. All I can do is take care of as many people as possible to minimize the damage done to all involved.

One thing I do want to make very clear - the staff here at Section 8 was not lied to (as was implied and / or stated) regarding our situation. Despite the sucker punch the company took back in August, the situation still looked salvageable, even up to the end, until one watershed event. One event (telecon) on a Friday two weeks ago turned the tables. The following Monday, we had a meeting and the staff was advised that we had to close.

Again, more later, but right now, however, getting a handle on things over the next week or so is my first priority....and my first priority is getting to the post office!

and this for the 749/999;

I used their setup guide for my 916 and I'm very happy with it.
