i'd agree with filantroop, your a company with a preproduction bike, testing with troy bayliss and an army of race engineers and mechanics in tow. knowing lap times will be published.i'm just shocked troy didn't say it was the best bike hes ever ridden!

That would make sense except that Giugliano will be racing in WSBK next year right alongside Checa. I'm thinking after testing they may decide to race this in WSBK next year

you can see the tail a bit better in this pic also... I really wish this bike still had a trellis... even a vestige of a trellis somewhere. I like the overall shape of the bike but it looks so, so, damn japanese without a trellis. ugh

Agreed. I've nothing against Japanese bikes, there are even some good looking sport bikes out there from Japan (the 07/08 ZX6R comes to mind). However sometimes I'm in the mood for something different and uniquely Italian, and now that Ducati is going for a more "Generic Japanese Sport Bike With Pointy Sharp Bits Everywhere" look my next Italian sport bikes will probably have to be an MV Agusta or Bimota, maybe, if I want something with a more distinct, sexy, Italian look that you don't see at every stop light. At least there are still other options!

Anyway, my opinion of the 1199 can still change. I'm going to reserve my final judgement of the design until I actually get a good look at it in person.

i want one, just saw a pic in the latest AMCN, with an average size rider mat black with an aluminum tank and it looked hot, much nicer shape than the earlier photos we've seen.

My guess is: OUR reaction to it.

That's the point of these spy shots IMO. Leak something out, then do some data mining. Figure out what's being said, what the general consensus is, is the bike likely to receive positive reaction by the masses, etc.

If that tank is any kind of indication how the final bike will look like, that I don't worry at all.
I am pretty sure it will be a stunner.

And for those who have problems with innovation, spend 15 minutes on the internet, comparing the Ducati's technical specifciations and designs from the beginning till now.

Ducati has been (and is) a company who adds innovations to its bikes.
But also don't hesitate to put them to rest and proceed with new things.

That does not only make their new bikes interesting, but also keeps their "classics" alive.
There are not many brands who are highly succesful today, having such a diverse history of models and technical variations.

My 2 cents,

E.
