Adding chain links?
I cut off my old 525 chain from my 749S and ordered a 520 kit. I have not received the kit yet. So, can anyone tell me if I will need to add links to a 520 DID EVR3 chain (120 links) if I am using a 14/43 setup on a 749S?
Thanks.

A new chain should be pleny long. You'll most likely end up removing a hand full.

yeah you will remove between 6-8 entire links. a 43 t huh? that's pretty high but i think you'll like it. i was running 14/42 and i caught a few people off guard when coming out of corners at the track, it accelerated really fast.

Yep. I have been told a 14/42 or 14/43 is a nice setup for Buttonwillow. Last week I ran the course both CW and CCW with the stock gearing 14/38 and I could bearly get out of my own way. I may pick up a 41 and 42 also for Thunderhill. Which track did you run your 749 at?

i ran at blackhawk farms in IL. Its a pretty tight track with fairly short straights so the gearing was nice. I don't know about Buttonwillow but i have been around Thill and a 41-43 should be fine there, i would prefer a 41 or 42 due to the staights. it sounds like you are well on your way to being even happier with your Ducati. make sure to let us know how it goes and post some pics to show off your hard work (and maybe help someone else thinking about making the switch.)
