1098S 1st oil change, question on oil amount?

Hey all,
I just performed my first oil change on a new to me 2008 1098S and have a question regarding oil capacity. I did a dump oil/replace new screw on filter and installed 3L. The owners manual states 3.7L when performing an oil change and the service manual states 3.4L when doing the same operation? My dealer told me 3.0L..... I installed the 3.0L and the oil level is at 3/4 between the low mark and the high/max. mark lines on the RH engine case cover. Is this sufficient or do I need to top it off to the max. line? The service manual gives mixed info on where it should be stating that when performing an oil change it should be at the max. line on the RH engine case cover but also states when "checking oil level" it should be somewhere/anywhere between the low line and the max. line on the RH engine case cover.

What amount/level have you all been installing(liters) when performing an oil change on your bike?

Thanks,
-John

3L sounds about right - I usually put just over 3L, ~3.1L in my 1198. I assume you've started it, just make sure its level and not on paddock stands when checking. You can fill it to the max line if you like. These deep sump motors have plenty of clearance for the oil and cranks to prevent frothing.

pjonte,
Thank you for the response. Yes, I did start it after changing the oil/before checking the level.

It has been sitting for a bit over an hour now since running after the oil change and the level is just about up to the max. line now. I think I'll just leave it be....

Thanks again,
-John
