i run into that a lot when searching for parts for my 06 749, some people list 03-04, 03-05, i've even seen 03-07, which makes no sense. I thought the only major change during the series was the swingarm, which shouldn't be an issue when finding most parts. i usually call to make sure, tho.
And i'd double check your info, I think the 749 is set up for a 180-190lb rider, which would fit you perfectly. I would advise you to set your sags, and if you can dial it in you should be fine. Check out race tech's spring rate calculator.
