When I bought my 2016 MTS the dealer asked if I had a battery tender. After saying yes he said we will install a plug to the battery before you pick up the bike. He has had too many calls with dead batteries, lots of stuff running even when off.
I rewired the left-side power connector directly to the battery with a 20A fuse (I had problems with my heated gear overloading the connector and having the CANBUS shut it down). Since it is hardwired, I put a plug on my battery tender and use it for the trickle charger as well. Both work great.
What are some solid brand tenders you guys recommend? I will be storing my bike for 6 months while I work overseas and it has the plug so might as well use it.
I use this dual bank one. I always have 2 batteries plugged in 24/7, rotating between bikes/cars/lawn tractor etc. 022-0165-DL-WH
Make sure it's 12v.
