Question Thinking about buying a 2014 MTS 1200

Its for sale for an ok price, its the base model so no electronic suspension, this will be mostly for me and my wife to cruise around, the problem is, the dealer said that since its got 13,500 miles, he can't sell it to me and that he will send it to auction, being a ducati dealer means that he cannot sell it without doing the 15k service on it. I've always done all services on my motorcycles and my 3rd bike was an 851 in 1993. he is also trying to sell me a 2014 base mts 1200 with full termi at 2k more but only 7500 miles. so the question is, is it true about selling the bike to me not being possible because of it being close to the 15k serv or not, also is there any part list for the 15000 service I can look at? I know belts, oil, gaskets and shims if they are out of tolerance, anything else? a good place to buy these parts online?or should I go for the one with the termi which by the way I don't know if its got the reflashed ecu for it?

Thanks for your help guys.

I've never heard of anything like that before. Usually impending services are part of the negotiations, or the price.

Tell him to do the 15k service and then you'll buy it for that 'ok price'...

There are way too many MTS for sale at great prices to play along with a dealer that is playing games.

t is correct, and that is the way two wheels world in pompano just lost a customer... I hate it when shops try to give me a run around like we were ignorant or the www wasnt the fastest reference in most cases.

Yeap, I've got my sights on another one that will require some more traveling to go get it but in my opinion is a better deal.

Thx guys

I'm upgrading this week to the 2016 Multi. Whatever bike you choose the Multi ST's after 2013 model year are UNBELIEVABLE....nothing on earth like them. Fabulous at the track, around town, or touring. Two up with fully loaded bags you won't even notice the extra weight - handling and acceleration basically the same (unless you are a race rider...they might notice :-))

I would be surprised if in the US, that makers havethat much influence over dealers as to how they sell their used bikes. It's just another used unit at this point, Ducati or not. Now I'm sure they train them in how selling used units is a great opportunity to educate the customer about service intervals and sell scheduled service along with the bike........
