New Multistrada for 2010

I friend of mine is on location in Milano and just reported that he has seen the new Multistrada.

It will be presented next autumn and up for sale in late 2009 or early 2010.

No more information other then the fact that "ugly duckling" will no longer be the way to describe the Multi.

No pictures will be forthcoming soon, since everyone had to leave there cellphones before the big meeting.

I just hope it is not the Strada Aperta that has been rumored for a while now.

That thing is too much GS like. I love my Multi for what it is, and I dont think I would like it as much if it were mor Adventure type. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Doesn't he have a camera phone?

Arrow My predictions:

I predict the new MultiStrada will cause a massive uproar at Ducati.ms.

- Some people will call it the ugliest Ducati they've ever seen, and question why the designer wasn't fired.

- Others will praise the new bike and will put deposits down immediately.

- A few people will hate it at first, but when shown a second color option, and reminded that they could actually change the mirrors/exhaust/turn signals, etc., they will suddenly change their tune. Some people have about as much imagination as a brick wall.

- Regardless of the initial outcry, most people will calm down within a couple of years, realizing that a drastically new Ducati model isn't the end of the world, and that they aren't actually required to buy a bike they don't like that much.

Well, Hell. That's the end of this forums run...

The real question is, is it more Ducati?

Maybe so, but the thought of making it look like one of those Alaska BMWs with the goofy metal hardcases will make me puke. Like someone said like the BMW GS. Those bikes have been around forever and they are still ugly, if its the bike described above. The difference is the fact when I first laid eyes on the MTS I thought it too was ugly, at first. Then the machine grew on me and I realized the form was functional so my whole mindset flip flopped. The GS may meet the same standard, but no flip flooping now or in the future. I've been looking to buy a Multi or an ST, maybe I should at least wait and maybe rationalize my budget to justify buying new?

well John, we agree once again. i too hated the design of the MTS at first, just like i did the 999. well, low and behold, look at what two bikes have made their way into my garage. just last night i went outside, uncovered the MTS, and stared at it for a while. i love its form, it's very 999'esque, but its function is what has me truly excited. owning a bike no longer in the lineup will have its merits too.

hopefully they keep the same function with the new MTS, form i might be able to get used to, but right now i don't have that problem. i like my MTS, and i'm sure you'd love yours too.

peace
