MTS 1100 as a daily rider?
Now that time has past, I'm wondering about the air cooled MTS bikes as a daily rider?
prices must be good, but tell me your long-term experience judgements

I love them (1100S specically) and consider them to be one of the best riding bikes that Ducati has ever produced. Aside from the value that it offers, it has good range, decent comfort, a very good suspension, the wonderful trellis frame, and a time tested air cooled motor. All wrapped up in a very simple package that's easy to work on with the exception of removing the rider's seat. Whether it has enough power or good enough looks is for you to decide, but it's great bike for sure.

How would you compare it to an st2 ? Basically same price/ luggage but less utility?

Bruce-
the 1100 Multis are wonderful all-around bikes, that fixed the few niggles the 1000 series had (grabby dry clutch, inaccurate fuel gauge). They are great commuters due to the upright riding position and wet clutch. The only qualifier is if you do a lot of stop-and-go commuting in very, very hot (like Phoenix) conditions the air-cooled motor may be a bit of an issue heat-wise. The valve service intervals are more frequent than the 1200 series (7000 miles for the 1100 vs. 15,000 for the 1200), but all the Ducati mechanics I know say the same thing- that once a 1000/1100 motor has broken in, as long as you don't repeatedly flog it at redline, the valves stay adjusted.
Yes, I still miss my 1000 sometimes...

I have one I use as a town runabout and commuter.
They are comfortable and well behaved, handle well and are reliable.
The 1100DS motor is almost perfect for the road.

The 620 may be a better commuter.
However, the 1100 makes it more fun.
