HELP - too many connections to battery

i am a new MTS1200S owner, have always owned hondas so still getting used to the bells and whistles. i am currently running a zumo 660 to the pre-installed wires. i am also adding tourtech foglights (left and right), r-link alarm and 2 pigtails for gerbing's gear (need the pigtails because the 12V sockets don't have enough juice for me and passenger).

i was thinking that foglights, alarm and gerbings would be too much to run to the battery, but i can not get a straight answer. i had 1 dealer tell me it's fine, another dealer say i should upgrade the OEM battery to a shorai and ducati customer service not giving a straight answer.

any thoughts? anything i should consider for the warranty (don't want to risk voiding)?

thanks

Hey bud, the Multi puts out more than enough juice for that stuff. I personally wouldn't run them off the battery, rather I would use a fuse block.

Check this site out, I ordered all my electrical stuff from him and if you plan it right it can just be a matter of plug-n-play.

If you're running the fog lights, GPS, and heated equipment all at the same time - it won't matter if you have a bigger, better battery. It's a matter of if the alternator can keep up to all the added goodies.
I, personally, would do it - but monitor your battery - get it tested with a load tester after a short ride. If it's fine, try a longer ride and test it again.

OK. First, you need to look at the total wattage you are planning to load onto the system. As another poster said, it's not the battery, its what the alternator can crank out. I think the 1200 puts out 500 watts, so you need to tally up the draw of all of your accessories. I believe someone here said that they were able to run everything you are talking about (the Gerbings are the big draw)but you probably would need to be careful if you were in prolonged stop-and-go situations where the engine isn't turning many RPMs.

In terms of battery hookups you should definitely add a fuseblock- I put in the Eastern Beaver miniature 3 outlet setup and was able to fit it in the battery compartment area. I also turned one of my 12 volt sockets into a fused, direct link to the battery so I can charge though it and use my heated liner. No reason you couldn't do that on both sides. I use the GPS power socket for GPS and radar. I run motolights through the fuseblock.

I also went to HID lights, which actually draw a lot less current than the stock lowbeams, and installed the Motolectric starter wire setup, which allows much faster starting and lessens wear on the alternator and starter motor. All together, it works great and the alternator puts out a steady 14 volts in operation (I have my Escort set to display voltage- nice feature!)

No doubt that the Eastern Beaver product isn't great, but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Fuzeblock product which allows you to have either switched or non-switched power to the accessories.

333calvin,
Have a look at this how to thread about fitting a Stebel Nautilis air horn. There is some discussion in the first few posts about wiring a power distribution bus:

Split Stebel Nautilis compact horn to a MTS1200 Part 1
