Painting a Multistrada

New to the forum - just put my deposit down on a new 2011 Multistrada Standard. For 2012, a non-ABS model is not an option, so I had to buy a 2011 model (I do not want ABS) and they only have red left - no white. So, I was hoping to post a thread requesting feedback from anyone who has painted theirs - a search on previous topics was fruitless. However, I had to make my purchasing decision prior to getting approval to post here, so now it's kind of moot.

Anyway, I have a quote for $1,500 to paint the 2011 black like the S model (black is discontinued for 2012, and titanium is added). I'm interested to hear if anyone has input on pricing or other factors when painting a Multistrada.

Thanks.

You could find someone who had to buy a black bike because the Red they really wanted was not available and they had to settle for boring black and trade body work.

Seriously, if I were going to paint my Multi, I would go with a custom Tri-Color Italian Flag Green/Red/White.

In Australia, black was NEVER available on the base models: only S (sport and touring).

Stop being a sook and buy an S! You won't regret it, and hey, you can always switch the ABS off if it's keeping you from achieving that ultimate lap time

Eric

Many riders who buy a new bike have thoughts of changing (customizing) the color/design/graphics of their stock bike.

I say do it if you can "afford" it.

Keep in mind that taking any mass produced vehicle (in this case a motorcycle) and adding modifications to enhance the use of it, is not the same as changing the very specific stock color of it.

Basically you are then in possession of (and later trying to sell) something that the manufacture (Ducati) no longer wants to be associated with.

Specific color is the very DNA of a year and model: among other things.

Crash bars (etc) are not.

Sorry but that sounds like a bad investment into the bike. Paying $1500 for a "stock" paint job will also hurt your re sale value. If I'm shopping for a used Ducati that has been re painted the first thing that comes to mind is the bike has been wrecked.

Stick with the red, and black out the silver parts if you want something a lil darker.

Sttick with it a while before you decide... It'll probably grow on you!

By then, you'll have found plenty of other bling and accessories to spend your $1,500 on!

Cheers.
