Exclamation Fuel Gauge Issue

G'day crew,

anyone out there have any issues with their fuel gauge playing up. 10 minutes after filling mine up it reads up and down like a yoyo, going from full to almost half and anywhere in between. It usually sorts itself out after a 100km or so, but still annoying. It's going to the dealers next week who claim not to have heard of this issue, so if anyone has had similar problems I'd appreciate your input.

Bilke is a 2011 MTS 1200 touring.

Cheers from downunder....

There has been a couple posts on this issue.
SOME dealers it seems don't know if their rear end is punched or bored!!

My 2011 touring S after fill up shows full until about 40 miles have been used then drops down to 3/4 and starts reading fine from there

Mine used to do the same, and would read a false full for up to 60 miles.

Thumbs up Fuel Guage Issue

Thanks for the prompt response guys, at least I can tell the dealer it's not a one off issue.

No worries about riding it heaps, this is without doubt the easiest and most enjoyable bike I've bought, ever...

Already clocked up a few thousand kays but going accross to the Superbikes in Phillip Island next month will let me compare it to my other steeds that have done the trip, I have no doubt the new girl will take it her stride and ask for more.

Cheers

The manual says
"If the vehicle enters rerserve status and the light has turned on,it is recommended to turn the vehicle off when refuelling (key off): if fuel is added without turning it off(Key-On and engine off) the data update may not be immediate."
I wonder if they mean you are supposed to turn it off with the hands free button instead of the one on the handle bar? And doing so may eliminate your problem of the fuel sensor taking a while to update

That's interesting:

1) How bad was it before the replacement?
2) Is it now perfectly linear across the range?

Cheers
