Front indicator

I caught a stone that holed the indicator lens in my left side hand guard.
Purchasing a replacement I learned that it is now only possible to buy a complete hand guard with indicator assembly rather than the indicator as a separate item (as used to be the case). The dealer did have older indicators in stock but only right side ones.
I bought the kit but elected to replace only the indicator as my hand guard was unmarked however... it doesn't fit. It looks identical, but you can't put a new indicator into an original (2010) hand guard. You end up with an odd gap around the lens. Close inspection revealed that although the profiles of the parts are the same the mounting lugs are slightly different.
Bearing this in mind it's strange that the kit contains the hand guard and the indicator as separate parts and you have to use the old screws.

So... if you have a new Multistrada and need to change a front indicator don't be tempted to buy and old stock item!

good heads up...

i wondered why they changed the policy to only sell complete assemblies going forward. i need to new guard, but not lens. looks like i need to get the whole assembly. i wonder if you could see the difference if the right is old and the left is new?

Slight difference in the mould marks but you won't notice. I have an old left side hand guard that you are welcome to!

Sounds like this would be the juncture at which to upgrade to the more solid DP mirrors with built-in indicators. (I believe they come with the corresponding hand guards.) Ha! I'm probably falling right into Ducati's DP marketing ploy.

Oh hell no! You have to buy the hand guards and the mirrors separately.
