MSTD1200 Timing belt cover. Internal clearance.

Folks,
Can anyone confirm for me what the difference is, in the offset between the outer face of the timing belt pulleys on the Horizontal head ?

Attached photos show :
- which pully I'm having trouble with.
- the gouge it has cut into the inside of the cover itself.
- an attempt to show the offset between it and the pulley below it.

My initial guess was that these should be just about flush, as opposed to 5-6 mm gap...

Does the top pulley look like it's sticking out too far ?

Cheers,
Wit C.

It's hard to see in the pictures, but if there was an offset, what would that do to the belt itself? Wouldn't it be always trying to jump off the pulley(s)? Or is one pully wider than the other?

yeah... i think the belt slightly overhangs the main gear now. just a fraction though. ( between E and D )....

just curiose as i wouldnt have expected such a large offset between the outer faces of the two pulleys.

Im gonna clean up the gouge and color over it, to see if it is still hapenning...

If anyone has their cover off for whatever reason, I wouldnt mind their observations.

cheers wit c

Maybe they designed it to rub on the cover in lieu of the sound of a dry clutch
