i just opened mine up out of the box. There is a piece that moves around and is made to be wired.

Do you guys safety wire it or modify it somehow?

Does it look like this? I put one on my rsv4 today. It is meant to safety wire and comes with a a drilled angle flange to safety wire the cap to.

You don't need to safety wire it, unless your doing track days. It's designed so to get optimum positioning for safety wire you take the snap ring off and repositioned the flange piece.

yep just like it.

a lot of jingle without the wire. nothing you would hear of course

you could actually undo the snap ring and take the sliding part out.
