Nuvi 500 Mount
So I am debating between the Zumo 220 and the Nuvi 500. (I don't listen to nav instructions, and the 220 doesn't do music anyway).
About $150 cheaper. What are you doing for your 500/550 mounts? The Zumo comes with a Ram mount, which I am familiar with, but for the Ducati, I am wondering if that would be best?
On my SE I will just use the tank bag and the car plug.

Take a look at the Navihalter mount... I have tried a couple of mount for my Zumo 665 and ended up with the this one after spending a bunch of money trying all the others. The Navihalter seems to work the best as it keep your head position look up and in front of you while a number of the other one force you to look down.... Unit will run you about $130-$150 USD depending on the Euro exchange rate and the guys are awesome to help you with any questions.... there have been a few other posts on this topic .... Good luck!

i had the same on my MTS12 and currently have it employed on my GS, and in the same manner. a ram ball, handlebar stem bolt mount.....mount a short ram bar to it and you have what i think is one of the better and least expensive solutions out there. the nice thing about the mount is the you can select different length ram extension bars to suit your needs. does it secure it with lock and key and look uber ADV? no, but i like it.
taken soon after delivery,

Touratech locking V2 mount w/ EE "Universal" mount adapter. Works great, mounts right where I wanted it (top/center of handlebars) and gives me peace of mind that my GPS will still be there when I leave work, the restaurant, etc. Expensive bit of kit, but well worth it IMO.

I like this setup. Where do you source the ram parts? I am having a hard time spending almost as much on the mount as the unit itself.

A less expensive (and less secure) system that I considered was this one:
SW-MOTECH Detachable Vibration-Damped GPS Holder (Ducati Multistrada 1200 '10-) - GPS.22.646.10000.B : TwistedThrottle.com
By the time you purchase all the RAM bits you will be approaching this cost, assuming you have no RAM parts laying around already.....

Same mount here for my 550. I take my GPS with me when off the bike anyways. Does the job well and not too $$$ is bonus.
