Dan Kyle Reverse Shifting
Has anyone purchased and used the reverse shifting linkage from Dan Kyle?
When I spoke with them on the phone they have not tried on the MTS1200.
It is a universal item

I know in theory it sounds like a great thing to gp shift BUT, if you ride more than one bike, like a dirtbike, you can get your shifts messed up via brain-fart and can cause a helluva accident. I have a broken hand to prove it.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to change the shifting to a reverse order? I understand in WSB or Moto-GP, they do this so the bike can be upshifted while leaned over at racetrack lean angles. What kind of benefit would you get on the street?

I have had it on other bikes so I am used to it. I personally like pushing down on gear shift while going through the gears

i did it.
i modified a shifter from palmer products ( Ducati MS1200).
a picture can be found here:
the pheonix
i made the change because my other bike is a track bike with reverse shift. strange thing is i had smoother shifting after i made the change. very good mod for me.

I have reverse shift on my 916, but normal shifting on my roadbike.. Reverse shifting is very good on the track, but even in GP and SBK its down to personell preference.. I know that atleast afew of the top racers in GP still use "road" type shifting with Up being up and down being down.
I changed over to reverse shift simply because i felt it was safer for my foot when leaned over. The older superbikes where sort of built for it since you just need a straight lever. if you didnŽt have one, then you could just flip the gearbox side linkage arm UP and youŽd have reverse shift.

I'd love a GP shift on my Multi....but I also run GP shift on my race bike. I used to also ride dirt and never had an issue switching between the bikes.

Cheers,

Thanks for the responses, so I guess no one has used the Kyle Racing reverse shifting arm? Bartman314 does that shifter work with stock pegs and how much modification was needed?

not sure...
i'm not sure if it works with stock pegs. i had the aftermarkets on when i made the change.
i worked with iain at palmer products to get the mod to work. on iain's recommendation, i purchased their triumph shift peddle because it had the linkage connector hole on the right side of the axle for reverse shift. i played around trying to get that geometry to work to no avail - clearance issues with clutch housing and center stand as i recall. i ended up drilling a hole in the shift peddle, which allowed sufficient clearance to make clean shifts up and down (in reverse pattern).
i told all this to iain so he could help other customers of palmer products.
i'm happy to consult further if you decide to go this way.
