Idle Revs @ 2k With Start Up... Normal?

So I recently got the Multi 1200 out of the garage for a cold weather ride after it had been sitting for three weeks. After turning the engine over the idle revs were at 2000+ (over reving at idle) while the engine was warming up. It was if it had a choke that was turned up to to ensure the engine turned over.

Is this normal: engine reving higher than normal at start up after the bike has been sitting around for a while? Idle revs went back down to ~15k after the first couple of stops.

Neil... I've noted the same after the MTS has sat in a cold garage for a few weeks. The idle RPM's tend to settle down after it has warmed up. Over the years, have had a few other bikes/makes do the same.

My normal idle speed immediately after startup is 1200 RPM.

Below about 5 degress Celsius it idles at 1800 for the first couple of minutes than falls back to 1200.

I wouldn't sweat it too much - I reckon Ducati did this on purpose.

I've not seen mine idle faster when cold and have always questioned it - 1200 rpm at startup no matter how cold it is. Sounds like its normal +/-.

I was out for toot yesterday.

At +7 degrees celsius it idled at about 1600 for a couple of minutes then dropped back to normal. I think it is designed this way.

Define "cold".

I've been out at -5 Celsius.
