Need some input from you!

Folks, can you help pls.

Have a look at the picture attached.

What is this white stuff?
How do I get rid of it?

No water loss from the radiator....Changed the oil on xmas eve??? because of it!

Just did a 45-60 min run including 90 on the motorway from central London to Heathrow? (10miles)

Is it detrimental to the engine?

Its really anoying as I feel I should be able to see the oil level in the sight glass for obvious reasons.

Thats most probably water condensation, mine does the same.

Unfortunately in temperatures like we have em right now, the engine doesn't get over 150 - 160 degrees. Let the engine idle after riding until the fans kick in and the condensation should disappear.

Hi all

This is moisture from the lubricant
It happens frequently there is nothing wrong , just leave the lubcap open for a few minutes after your ride ( let the moisture come out from the hole )

You mean like this?

I just assumed it was an Italian Motogremlin hiding in the crankcase.

That pic was taken after coming home from an oil change at the dealer 2 hours down the highway.
Either this synthetic is hygroscopic (water attracting) or BIG OIL is cutting it with tap water.

Thanks fattiredflyer
Good to know I am not the only one....oil change at 3600miles was unnecessary then

At least I know the beauty has good fully synthetic Oil in now....

So I assume it happens to other types of bikes too?

One wonders if one shouldn't cover part of the oil cooler during the winter months.

Milky residue in the oil sight window is probably the No. 1 rated post in these forums! It happens to everybody, especially if you ride during the cold and damp months. It's nothing to worry about. Ignore it. It will go away once you've had a chance to get the engine temp up into the normal Summer time range for an extended period.
