Moderator on M1200s.. :)

Well guys.. It seems it is time to release the sportbiker in me.

I´ve just pulled the trigger on a deal to replace the aging SPS with an almost new Multi 1200. The SPS was out on the road a total of two times durning 2011 and I´ve been looking at the 1200 for awhile now (the commuter BMW F650CS doesn´t cut it when the SO wants a ride)

New bike is a -10 White Multi 1200S Sport with Termi slipon.

Pics coming when i pick her up two-three weeks from now. CANT wait!!

So can anyone point me toward the best "must read" threads?
Top mods?

Plans:
My bike will be mapped by Hypertrick just as soon as i can swing it.. So no PC5 here, just a new flash done on the bikes existing ECU.

Thanks!!

Once you get all the dash and button pushing sequence worked out ,
I start out in urban get out of town ,then hit sport and have a ball...
A very polite bike in touring and urban ,
Sport will get you excited...
Good choice ...
I'm sure you will let us know your take on it...
Ducati site has a simulator to play with on your computer screen to get you sort of used to it...

Good choice, congrats!

You will love this bike. When it comes to mods, I would recommend

- 14 T front sprocket, there are quite a few threads on this topic.
- decat pipe to get rid of the stock exhaust "boat anchor".

Decat pipe / open system depends on how strict they are in Sweden.
Both the MIVV or the Leo Vince make the bike really loud.
The Termi slip on you mentioned, doesn't change the sound. It looks
nice but there is no increase in power or sound. But it can be
combined with the decat pipes.

Ducati Panniers and top box are slick ,
But if you want BULLET PROOF maybe try the Touratech or others

Ducati top box holds 2 large full face helmets and the left pannier holds a Large full face..
On and off in seconds... with handles as in luggage
The top case rack is strong with brackets ,some others are not so well supported , Brackets can come off in a few minutes for the naked look...

HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO SPEND???

For normal street riding/touring, the stock panniers are best- they fit the lines of the 1200 nicely and the mounting points are absolutely invisible (If you go for GIVI or Tourtech panniers, the mounting frames are fugly and mess up your Italian supermodel's looks!). They are NOT very sturdy, so if you are planning to go offroad touring I'd go for the Tourtech. If you plan to do some longer trips, I'd get the larger (73 liter) panniers as the standard size are pretty small, especially the right side due to the exhaust cutout. The Ducati topcase is huge and lots of folks here like it. You can also get a rear rack from Dynamic Products Dynamic Motorcycle Accessories that allows mounting of any Givi top case. THat's my white 1200 Touring in the ad

Enjoy your new baby and Think Spring!
