Looking to buy a center stand for MTS 1200
So – I realize I really do need a center stand for my MTS 1200S sport in order to shape up on the chain maintenance front... (cough)....
What is the cheapest solution? Third party / external stands or get the custom Ducati MTS one?

I don't know if it's the cheapest, but I bought this ( SW-MOTECH Centerstand (Ducati Multistrada 1200, '10-) - HPS.22.141.10000.B : TwistedThrottle.com) shortly after purchasing my bike and it's been working great. It doesn't get in the way of my left foot like the DP stand does, and it's great for tire and chain maintenance.

I think the aftermarket centerstands I've seen are cheaper, and look to be as well made as the Ducati ones
For me, a centerstand is a more useful option (than a paddock stand). On one particularly rainy trip I've rolled a loaded down bike completely across the length of a shopping center parking lot trying to de-crud and lube a rusting chain. A centerstand would have made quick work of it.

While I agree a center stand is more useful in many locatons, Martin hasn't made any indications he'll be able to take multi day trips on the bike so might as well no put the center stand on and use something even more stable at home.

Exactly right – I'm on the road 2 x 45 minutes/day for my daily commute, and that's really all I do*–*so a center stand that only lives in my garage would be perfectly fine for me.
Seems like that pit bull thing is the easiest/cheapest then (since there'd be no installation cost)?
Thank you all for your input and help!

Center Stand
I have the SW-Motech one and it works well. If you take any long trips and need to lube your chain or plug a tire, the center stand will make it much easier. I also have the Pit-Bull rear stand which I prefer in the garage.
