Ducati DP GPS update?
Is there a Ducati GPS software update for their GPS unit? If so, did it cost money to your dealer to get the software update?

I think you could go to Garmin site and do the upload for Zero $$$...
Just sos you know . The Ducati unit is about twice the price of the same almost unit from Garmin, and with the cash saved you could get the top of the line Touratech mounting system (Locking and everything) It just wouldn't be red and maybe not have the same start up screen...

Firstly, what I HAVE is the Ducati DP unit. So mention of some other system really did not address my question.
Secondly, the Ducati DP unit has all the listings of Ducati dealerships in any given area, which is of value in the event I need to contact a dealership in the local area wherever I am. If I do update the unit with the Garmin software, I lose the Ducati dealership listings.

For updating Ducati GPS devices, I've heard that you need to contact your local dealer.

You MIGHT want to go to the Garmin site to register your unit (Ducati should have taken care of that for the price)
Your serial # might get you updates as they come out periodically from Garmin...
The DP unit is slick for sure , I found it Very expensive ,Especially up here in Canada add the extra Tax ..and the price is almost Obscene...
I updated the Zumo 660 from the Garmin site , Worth looking into...
At the time of purchase the Ducati catalouge had 2 different units the larger screen was not available in N. America (I think)

Yeah, I have the 660 with a Touratech locking mount. Love it.
I guess I bought the lifetime updates 'cause I've yet to pay for any of them.

Congratulations, you likely bought a cheaper Garmin model with a small screen and a pretty red bezel and paid a lot more for it than you would have for a better Garmin without the bezel.
At any rate, there is value in anything, so long as one is happy with their purchase, that's how we all ended up with Ducati's, instead of less expensive alternatives. When it comes to a navigational device though, personally I would find a lot more value in having updated software, routing, and mapping, than I would in having Ducati dealership listings that I can easily get from google maps on my phone or tablet if and when I should need them. If it was me, I would update via Garmin's site. I believe they sell a lifetime update plan for around $90. That's hard to beat.
With regards to losing the Ducati listings though, I am not certain that that is even the case. I have certainly never lost any of my POI's routes, or waypoints from performing a software or mapping update. You could ask Garmin about it. You could also back up your existing map to your computer, which Garmin's free software allows for.
Cheers.

Free one-time update from Garmin is for the European map only on the DP unit.
Your unit should have a North American NT map on a Sandisc SD card. You will have to pay for a North America update SD card through Garmin.
If you only update the SD card the Duc shop info will remain on the DP GPS but the Duc info is, and will remain, outdated.

I'm thinking that Garmin would know the DP unit serial #s you have to register, and see that they would offer the SPECIAL stuff you get along with the DP unit...
The DP smaller than the Zumo 660 unit was priced at $1,100.oo + then add the tax on top of that ...
Any chance someone Nice could download all that special Info about the dealers and of the main tracks of the world MOTO GP and Superbike championships sos we could get the info???
