UNKNOWN DEVICE Error code ??

Hi All

Merry Christmas and a great New Year to you All

I have bought a damaged repairable Multi and I have repaired it to the stage where all I have had to do is clip the clock in and fire it up.

The original clocks were smashed so I bought a second hand clock set and had the info downloaded from the original into the new clock. I live in the UK and a guy in the UK can do this. Effectively the new clocks should now have the same info as the old clocks.

Soooo this morning (with much anticipation!!) I clipped the new clock set in. It did indeed light up and the old mileage showed up on the screen which would indicate that the original info has been transferred over.

BUT an error code comes up...... UNKNOWN DEVICE

I haven't tried starting as there is no petrol in the tank, but does anyone know what this error code usually signifies. Could it simply be the new clocks?

Error message............................Error

UNKNOW DEVICE.........................Uknown control unit

"maybe guy can't do this"

Thanks for that. I have the manual and I know it means unknown control unit, but what does that mean?

Is it the clocks, the ECU. Is it something to do with a device that has nothing to do with Ducati, ie an alarm or the tracker that is apparently fitted?

Anyone had this code pop up?

Hi Paul,

Meaby you can try the next:

Hold the Mode and Flash switch together. Put on the power with the red switch. Normaly this gives the menu for switching between miles/km etc.

This as a test to see if the clock set works ?
(if this also result in a error..... then the clock set isn't set properly?)

And a "zwaai" to Erik, about 20 miles away
