Anyone do a 525 Conversion and have the stock 530 rear sprocket?
If so - I'd be interested in buying it (unless it's in worse shape than mine) to use while I'm waiting for Ducati – apparently it will take about 30 days to order one from Italy (no one has them in the US for sale in stock) and I've been advised to not use my chain for another day as it might gonna simply die on me between now and then (I commute 60+ minutes daily).
I've got a new chain - but I've also been advised not to put the new chain on the old sprocket, as it will mess up the new chain (correct?)
Let me know if you either have a stock rear sprocket for sale - or if you have any other ideas that might work...I'm sorta desperate.
Thanks!

Sorry, Martin, I have lots of spare sprockets but none that will fit.
FYI, the rule for this is: ALWAYS replace front and rear sprockets, and the chain, as a set.
Sometimes this doesn't make perfect sense because they don't all wear at exactly the same rate, but there is no point screwing up a new chain, especially if it is an expensive one!

Ah - but the front sprocket is just a few months old - it's a custom made 14t sprocket, so I don't wanna replace that one

if you're replacing a used sprocket with another used sprocket what have you gained?
Is your rear sprocket visibly worn? if not just put the chain on it and go...

The ability to transport myself for another month – various people have looked at my chain & sprocket and I'm being told that they are both worn down to a point where it's dangerous.
...and my MTS1200 is my *only* transportation – so I'm in in a bit of a crappy situation.

Martin
I'm sorry but I can't resist this any longer.
1. It appears that (from reading your posts) you are not into maintaining your bike on your own.
2. Your avatar. Is that a photo of yourself?
3. You do own a rather expensive bike. It would seem that financially you could "make" something happen sooner rather than later. If you know what I mean.
4. This bike is your only means of transportation? I forgot but do you live in a SoCal beach town somewhere?
5. Forgive me Martin, but you could be a lead character in a James Patterson novel.
I am actually paying you a compliment here: as following your story is as good as reading any "Alex Cross" book.
A real page turner.
Dan

From the pics he posted, the rear sprocket looked fine to me. Impossible to tell the condition of the chain, as it was dirty as crap. I'd say give them a good cleaning and see what condition they are really in, and decide what to do about it after that. Might be the chain is still servicable, you just can't tell from all the crap on it.

Correct. No time/interest/space/tools.

Hehe - yeah I see who this can seem confusing... but no, I'm neither rich nor lazy/stupid per se - (at least not in the way it might seem) it's just a sort of strange combination of the following factors:
1) I work about 12-14 hours/day - high stress job (think ER doctor - it's actually a challenge for me to even find time to run to the bathroom sometimes - no lunches, no nights off... lots of weekend work etc)
2) I have a high-needs 3-year old that takes literally all my time other than work.
3) I have no mechanical experience nor interest.
4) I love to ride motorcycles
5) I especially loved THIS particular bike - to a point that I decided to sell my car in order to afford buying it.

Correct – my wife uses the our only car, so I rely on the MTS1200 for all my daily transportations. I'm in the Seattle area - so it gets cold, dark, wet and crappy - but it's still the highlight of my day!
No clue who this author is you're talking about - but I'm glad I can provide entertainment/confusion
